HM THEMES

this is a parent appreciation post because i go to college with so many people whose parents do not support the fact that they want to act and be theatre majors and just basically do whatever makes them happy with their own lives and when someone told me their parents basically disowned them because of that, it kind of makes me take a step back and realize that my parents are basically wonderful and i need to stop taking that for granted all the time

like it never even really crossed my mind that more often than not, most people’s parents do not think that is a wise career choice and usually when i tell someone i’m a theatre major they’re like “oh yea i wanted to do that but then i realized it’s a dead-end career” and then i proceed to tell them the cliche about just wanting to be happy with my life/choices even if that means starving on the streets in NYC and dying with thousands of dollars worth of debt thanks to school then so be it and i can tell that simply being happy never even crossed their minds

also i’m a little insulted that most parents/guardians/people in general think being a theatre major amounts to basically nothing these days when in fact having a degree in theatre makes you more suitable for a wider variety of jobs than say, if you were majoring in something like philosophy or even english lit

anyway luv you mom and dad for encouraging me to go after my dreams and allowing me to be happy without interfering~
